A Mountain Castello

Photography holidays in Italy

The second of my one week workshop styled ‘Photography courses in Italy’, is at the beautiful mountain town of Pescocostanzo. Set in the Abruzzo region of central southern Italy, this ‘undiscovered’ gem sits at an altitude of 1,400 metres. With paved and cobbled streets, old houses and a history of lace making, the town provides a perfect photographic backdrop. ‘Pesco’ is very much a loved ‘secret’ of Romans and local Italians alike. The area boasts four Michelin restaurants, with little more than 1,200 residents in the town itself. And so I am including lunch on  three occasions at one of these excellent mountain restaurants, with my Photography holiday Italy. ‘Pesco’ is not just a photo opportunity, it’s a perfect base for discerning foodies, skiers, walkers and of course photographers!

Mountain town location

Nearby are the mountain winter sports towns of Roccaraso and Revisondoli in central Italy. Also well loved amongst local Italians especially during winter months, due to the ‘easy going’ pistes. Pescocostanzo itself actually has a few runs of its own and shares the same lift pass with its bigger neighbouring ski towns. So for those that ski, the sport is a good winter addition to share with my Italian mountain photography holiday. And as I am also a former Ski Coach, I am well qualified to advise. Check out my ‘Photography holiday Italy’ intro for more infomation.

The accommodation

The Hotel I have selected is a classic ‘Castello’ style hotel, although not quite a ‘castle’ as we might imagine. However it is both a beautiful and classical Italian building, untainted by modern embellishments and full of original details. This alone is full of photographic treats. I am quite flexible over accommodation, so if for example you would prefer to plan your own alternative accommodation, my tuition fee for the week will be £650 per person.

Photography holiday Italy

My price for the seven nights of my ‘Photography holiday Italy’ course includes tuition, bed, breakfast and dinner. And three lunches will be at one of those special restaurants, complete with a bottle of local wine per couple. Flights are not included as the logistics are rather variable, but I am offering transfers as a ‘clickabe’ extra. And of course I am very happy to advise on routes, planning and car-hire in Italy. However if you are happy to explore on foot, this is a perfect holiday to forget the car. All my Italian photo locations will be within easy reach and there are so many wonderful walks to discover. Scroll down to see my ‘Le Torri’ dates from week beginning 2nd March 2019. And dates can be reserved with a 10% deposit. Or of course, call me if you would like to discuss any element in more detail. Oh and apologies, a couple of these shots are library images.
