The second of my ‘Photography holiday courses’ in Italy, is based in the beautifully unique, and ‘undiscovered’ mountain town of Pescocostanzo. Set in the Abruzzo region of central southern Italy, the town sits at an altitude of 1,400 metres. With paved and cobbled streets, old houses and a history of lace making, the town provides the perfect photographic backdrop. ‘Pesco’ is very much a loved ‘secret’ of Romans and local Italians. The area boasts four Michelin restaurants, with little more than 1,200 residents in the town itself. And because of these gastronomic delights, I am including lunch each day at one of these excellent restaurants. ‘Pesco’ is not just a potential photo destination. It’s the most perfect base for discerning foodies, skiers, walkers and of course photographers!
Nearby there are the winter sports towns of Roccaraso and Revisondoli in central Italy. Also well loved amongst locals especially during winter months, due to the ‘easy going’ pistes. Pescocostanzo itself actually has a few runs of its own and shares the same lift pass with its bigger neighbouring ski towns. So for those that ski, the sport is a good winter addition to share with photography, at a very reasonable price. And as I am also a former Ski Coach, I am well qualified to give advice. Check out my ‘Me’ page.
The Hotel I have selected is a classic ‘Castello’ style hotel, although not quite a ‘castle’ as we would imagine. However it is a beautiful classic Italian building, untainted by commercial embellishments and full of original details.
My price for the seven nights, includes tuition, breakfast and dinner. Lunch will be at one of those special restaurants complete with a bottle of local wine per couple. Flights are not included as the logistics are rather variable, but I am offering transfers as a ‘clickabe’ extra. And of course I am very happy to advise on routes, planning and car-hire in Italy. However if you are happy to explore on foot, this is a perfect holiday to forget the car. All the photo locations will be within easy reach and there are so many wonderful walks to discover. Click on the ‘Booking’ button below to see my ‘Le Torri’ dates from week beginning 13th January 2018. Or of course, call me if you would like to discuss in more detail.
